First Step

FirstStep.blogMy first try at a blog entry.  Where to start?  Many times I have thought, “It sure will be cool when I have a book that is being read by others.” But never have I sat and wrote in a way that can communicate to others.  So here goes.  This is for me more than anyone else.  I will write to liberate some ideas, thoughts, stumbles, achievements.  I will write to continue the practice of daily discipline.  To give myself space to think aloud and the courage to share my thoughts with others.

Having just read “The Tail End”, by Tim Urban, on the recommendation of Tim Ferris, I am reminded that there is no time like the present.  Our opportunity, to love, learn, share and give is a blink of the eye.  At 45, I have so many memories of self-promises that were never fulfilled.  I am done with unfulfilled promises.  Either promise because it is what I will do, or don’t make the promise.  Time to grab life by the horns and all those other idioms that express the desire to live a life of fulfillment.  So I have begun a daily practice of meditation, daily journaling, regular workouts, dates with my wife and daughters and a blog.  How a blog equals the others, I’m not sure, but adding value to my life is the intent.  To continue to step in the right direction, and to take more steps on my path than away from that path will be my measurement.  “A journey of 1,000 miles begins with a single step.”  Lao Tzu.   Here goes….
